Description: 
Appearance: pale straw coloured liquid.
Freezing Point: 20.8ºC.
Boiling point cannot be determined as pirimiphos-methyl decompses on heating, at approximately 120ºC
Vapour Pressure: 2.0×10^-6 KPa (20ºC)
Stability: Pirimiphos-methyl is stable for up to six months at room temperature. It is hydrolysed by strong acid or alkali.
Water solubility: 10mg/L (20ºC)
 Pirimiphos-methyl is miscible with most organic solvents. Its solubility in water is approximately 5 mg/l at 30°C.
Uses:  
Pirimiphos-methyl is a broad-spectrum organophosphorus insecticide and acaricide, with both contact and fumigant action. In plants, it penetrates leaf tissue and exhibits translaminar action but is of short persistence. When applied to stored agricultural commodities (such as grain and nuts) or to the fabric of buildings, it provides longer-lasting pest control. It is also effective for space treatment and as a mosquito larvicide. Pirimiphos-methyl is used for controlling a wide range of chewing, sucking and boring insects and mites in warehouses, stored grain, animal houses, domestic and industrial premises; various mites on vegetables, ornamentals, bulb flowers, sugar cane, maize, sorghum, rice, citrus and other fruit, olives, vines, alfalfa, cereals; and for controlling certain glasshouse pests (especially whiteflies, thrips, mealybugs, aphids, and mites).

Stability : Soluble in Xylene, acetone, methanol, ethanol, ethers and dichloromethane by>50%,glycol by 3%.
Uses: It is a potent insecticide with powerful contact and stomach poisoning action , killing action , stability to light and the first household pyrethrin insecticide for prevention of agricultural pests. It has lethal effect to spawn and relatively mild irritation due to its lack of cyanogens group in its chemical structure, therefore safer to mammals and ideal for control and prevention of household insects and livestock pests.
