Applications

Nitenpyram is a systemic neonicotinoid that binds to specific nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, thereby interfering with normal nerve transmission in the flea and killing it.  It is mainly used to control sucking insect in rice and vegetables.

 Pymetrozin
1.Control of aphids and whitefly in vegetables, potatoes, ornamentals, cotton, deciduousand citrus fruit, tobacco, hops; Both juvenile and adult stages are susceptible. Also for control of plant hoppers in rice.
2.Application rates vary from 150g/ha on potatoes to 200 - 300g/ha on ornamentals, tobacco and cotton; 10-30g/hl on vegetables, fruit and hops.

The pesticide mixture of Nitenpyram + Pymetrozine is widely used in agriculture for effective pest control. Here's an overview of its application:

1. Target Pests

This combination is particularly effective against:

  • Sucking pests such as aphids, whiteflies, thrips, and leafhoppers.

  • Rice planthoppers (a major pest in rice cultivation).

2. Mode of Action

  • Nitenpyram: A neonicotinoid insecticide that acts as an agonist on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the nervous system of insects, causing paralysis and death.

  • Pymetrozine: A pyridine azomethine insecticide that disrupts the feeding behavior of sucking pests by affecting their nervous system, leading to starvation and death.

The combination provides both contact and systemic action, ensuring effective control of pests at different life stages.

3. Application Methods

  • Foliar Spray: The most common method. Dilute the mixture in water and spray evenly on the crop foliage, ensuring thorough coverage.

  • Soil Drench/Application: Applied to the soil for systemic uptake by plants, particularly effective against soil-dwelling pests.

  • Seed Treatment: Used to protect young plants from early pest infestations.

4. Recommended Crops

  • Rice: Effective against rice planthoppers and leafhoppers.

  • Vegetables: Such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, for controlling aphids and whiteflies.

  • Fruits: Including citrus and grapes, for managing thrips and other sucking pests.

  • Cotton: For controlling aphids and whiteflies.

5. Dosage

  • The dosage varies depending on the crop, pest severity, and formulation. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations or local agricultural guidelines.

  • Example: For rice, a typical dosage might be 20-30 grams of the mixture per hectare.

6. Advantages

  • Broad-spectrum control: Effective against a wide range of sucking pests.

  • Reduced resistance risk: The combination of two different modes of action minimizes the likelihood of pest resistance.

  • Long-lasting effect: Provides extended protection against pests.

7. Precautions

  • Safety: Wear protective clothing, gloves, and masks during application to avoid exposure.

  • Environmental Impact: Avoid spraying near water bodies to protect aquatic life.

  • Residue Management: Adhere to pre-harvest intervals (PHI) to ensure food safety.

  • Resistance Management: Rotate with other pesticide groups to prevent resistance development.

8. Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure the mixture is approved for use in your region and on the specific crop. Follow local regulations regarding pesticide application and residue limits.
