Foramsulfuron is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of branched chain amino acids -- ALS enzyme inhibitor. Symptoms Foramsulfuron is spraying. Within a few hours to sensitive plants to produce growth inhibition. According to crop types and environmental conditions, the visible symptoms first appear in after spraying 24-28h, obvious symptoms occur in most cases after 1-2W. Sensitive plants usually Leaf Chlorosis, necrosis after treatment, then meristem chlorotic necrosis, and finally the whole plant death. Foramsulfuron through the leaves to absorb, transfer in plants, especially the delivery to the meristem. The basis for selective Foramsulfuron is it quickly in detoxification metabolism speed of corn plants (with or without iodized Metsulfuron methyl), and in contrast to sensitive plants with almost no degradation of the parent compound. There are three major metabolic pathway in maize; Oxidation hydrolysis, amino sulfonylurea bridge deacylated, two methoxy pyrimidine ring.
Formulation: Water-dispersible granule (WDG)
Active Ingredients:
Foramsulfuron 30%: Sulfonylurea herbicide (ALS inhibitor)
Iodosulfuron-methyl Sodium 1%: Sulfonylurea herbicide (ALS inhibitor)
Isoxadifen-ethyl 30%: Safener (reduces crop injury)
Mode of Action: Inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS), disrupting branched-chain amino acid synthesis in weeds.
Target Weeds: Broad-spectrum control of grasses and broadleaf weeds in corn.
Crop | Growth Stage | Weed Stage | Max Applications |
---|---|---|---|
Corn (field corn, sweet corn) | 3-5 leaf stage (V3-V5) | Weeds at 2-4 leaf stage | 1 per season |
Weed Type | Key Species Controlled |
---|---|
Grasses | Barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli), Foxtail (Setaria spp.), Crabgrass (Digitaria spp.) |
Broadleaves | Pigweed (Amaranthus spp.), Lambsquarters (Chenopodium album), Velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti) |
Resistant Weeds | ALS-resistant barnyardgrass (check local resistance patterns) |
Parameter | Specification |
---|---|
Dosage | 60-90 g/ha (Foramsulfuron: 18-27 g a.i./ha; Iodosulfuron: 0.6-0.9 g a.i./ha) |
Water Volume | 200-300 L/ha (ground spray); 15-30 L/ha (drone, with adjuvant) |
Application Method | Foliar spray (ensure full coverage of weed foliage) |
Adjuvants | Add methylated seed oil (MSO) or nonionic surfactant (NIS) for improved efficacy |
Environmental Conditions | Temp: 15-25°C; RH >60%; wind speed <3 m/s; avoid rain within 6 hours |
Dual Herbicide Action: Enhanced control of grasses and broadleaves via two ALS inhibitors.
Safener Technology: Isoxadifen-ethyl minimizes corn injury (transient yellowing may occur but recovers within 7-10 days).
Resistance Management: Delays ALS-resistant weed development through multi-site inhibition.
Tank-Mix Partners:
Atrazine: Expands broadleaf control and residual activity.
Mesotrione (HPPD inhibitor): Improves control of ALS-resistant weeds.
Cyhalofop-butyl: Strengthens grass control (e.g., late-emerging barnyardgrass).
Do NOT mix with organophosphate insecticides or urea-based fertilizers.
Crop Safety: Avoid application beyond corn's 6-leaf stage or under stress (drought, cold).
Soil/Environmental:
Reduced efficacy in soils with >5% organic matter.
Do not apply near water bodies (toxic to aquatic organisms).
Rotational Crops:
4-month interval: Soybean, wheat.
6-month interval: Canola, sugar beet, vegetables.
Rotate MOAs: Alternate with HPPD inhibitors (e.g., tembotrione) or cellulose inhibitors (e.g., indaziflam).
Field Monitoring: Scout for weed escapes (potential resistance).
Timing is Critical: Apply at weeds' 2-4 leaf stage for optimal control.
Nozzle Selection: Use flat-fan nozzles (11002 or 11003) for even coverage.
Rainfastness: Requires 6 hours to absorb; reapply if rain occurs sooner.
Brand Names:
Maister® OD (Bayer, similar formulation)
Hussar® OD (BASF, iodosulfuron-based)
Regulatory Status: Check local approvals (e.g., EPA Reg. No. for U.S.; EU Annex I status).
Use Rate: 60-90 g/ha (adjust for weed pressure).
Adjuvant: MSO recommended for hard-to-control weeds.
Tank-Mix: Combine with atrazine for residual control.
Record Keeping: Document application dates and weed species for resistance tracking.
