Isobavachalcone is a plant-derived broad-spectrum fungicide extracted from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia, a leguminous plant. The seed extract has different degrees of killing or inhibiting the growth and reproduction of various pathogenic fungi that harm crops. In particular, it has significant effects on the control of apple rot disease, rice blast disease, and damping-off disease caused by Rhizoctonia solani, as well as early/late blight disease and anthracnose disease of fruit crops, and bacterial blight disease of guava. Isobavachalcone is low toxic to humans and animals, and environmentally friendly, making it particularly suitable for green and organic agricultural production.
It works by destroying the cell walls and membranes, including the plasma membrane, mitochondrial membrane, and nuclear membrane, of plant pathogenic fungi, leading to the inability of hyphae to grow and reproduce normally, thus effectively controlling diseases caused by these fungi.
