Foramsulfuron is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of branched chain amino acids -- ALS enzyme inhibitor. Symptoms Foramsulfuron is spraying. Within a few hours to sensitive plants to produce growth inhibition. According to crop types and environmental conditions, the visible symptoms first appear in after spraying 24-28h, obvious symptoms occur in most cases after 1-2W. Sensitive plants usually Leaf Chlorosis, necrosis after treatment, then meristem chlorotic necrosis, and finally the whole plant death. Foramsulfuron through the leaves to absorb, transfer in plants, especially the delivery to the meristem. The basis for selective Foramsulfuron is it quickly in detoxification metabolism speed of corn plants (with or without iodized Metsulfuron methyl), and in contrast to sensitive plants with almost no degradation of the parent compound. There are three major metabolic pathway in maize; Oxidation hydrolysis, amino sulfonylurea bridge deacylated, two methoxy pyrimidine ring.
Formulation: Oil Dispersion (OD)
Active Ingredients:
Foramsulfuron 22.5 g/l: Sulfonylurea herbicide (ALS inhibitor)
Isoxadifen-ethyl 22.5 g/l: Safener (protects corn from herbicide injury)
Mode of Action: Inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS), disrupting weed growth
Target Weeds: Annual grasses and some broadleaf weeds in corn
Crop: Corn (field and sweet corn)
Application Timing:
Corn: 3-5 leaf stage (V3-V5)
Weeds: 2-4 leaf stage (most susceptible)
Application Rate: 1.0-1.5 L/ha (22.5-33.75 g a.i./ha foramsulfuron)
Preparation:
Fill spray tank 1/3 with water
Add product while agitating
Add adjuvant if required (see section 5)
Top up with water to desired volume
Application Method:
Ground application: 200-300 L water/ha
Aerial application: 15-30 L water/ha
Use medium-quality water (pH 5-7 preferred)
Nozzle Selection:
Flat fan nozzles (11002-11004) for ground application
Low-drift nozzles for aerial application
Weed Type | Controlled Species | Notes |
---|---|---|
Grasses | Foxtail, barnyardgrass, crabgrass | Excellent control |
Broadleaves | Pigweed, lambsquarters | Good control |
Problem Weeds | ALS-resistant barnyardgrass | Partial control |
Standard Use: Nonionic surfactant at 0.25% v/v
Hard-to-Control Weeds: Methylated seed oil at 1% v/v
Water Conditioners: Use when water pH >7 or contains cations
Rainfastness: 6 hours
Temperature Range: 15-25°C optimal
Inversion Conditions: Avoid application during temperature inversions
Re-entry Interval (REI): 12 hours
Pre-harvest Interval (PHI): 45 days
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Chemical-resistant gloves
Long-sleeve shirt and pants
Protective eyewear
Rotate Modes of Action: Use HPPD or PSII inhibitors in rotation
Tank Mix Options:
Atrazine for broader spectrum
Mesotrione for resistant weeds
Field Monitoring: Scout for weed escapes 7-14 days after application
Storage: Keep in original container, cool dry place (5-30°C)
Disposal: Triple rinse containers, dispose according to local regulations
Visible Effects: Weed growth stops within 3-5 days, complete kill in 10-14 days
Crop Response: Temporary yellowing may occur but corn recovers quickly
Rainfall: Heavy rainfall shortly after application may reduce efficacy
Important: Always consult the product label for specific recommendations in your region. Conduct a small-scale trial under your local conditions before full-field application. Record keeping of applications is essential for resistance management.
